The 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to take place three months from today, and the entry list for the race already features 29 IndyCar drivers.
The 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 26, which is exactly three months from today. It appears as though the 33-car field for the race will be set after bumping once again, as the entry list continues to grow and the 2019 IndyCar season has not even gotten underway yet.
A total of 29 drivers have been confirmed to make qualifying attempts for the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana.
The current total of 29 drivers on this entry list is this high already despite the fact that one of the drivers who was considered “confirmed” for this race in mid-December, Patricio O’Ward, lost his full-time ride with Harding Steinbrenner Racing for the 2019 season just over two weeks ago.

The 19-year-old Mexican is still searching for a ride for the 17-race 2019 season. By winning the 2018 Indy Lights championship, he earned a $1 million scholarship that guarantees him an entry in three of the races on the 2019 schedule, including the Indy 500 . That said, he is not included on this Indy 500 entry list because of the fact that he has not yet been confirmed for the race.
Of the 29 drivers who have been confirmed for this year’s Indy 500, 20 are the full-time drivers who are set to drive in each of the 17 races on the 2019 IndyCar schedule. Of the other nine, six are part-time drivers who are set to drive for full-time teams while three are part-time drivers who are set to drive for part-time teams.
Here is the current entry list for the 2019 Indy 500.
