Charlie Kimball is set to return to Carlin to drive in five of the 17 races on the 2019 IndyCar schedule in what is set to be his first season as a part-time driver.

It was confirmed a few weeks ago that Charlie Kimball is set to return to Carlin for the 2019 IndyCar season, which is set to be his ninth season competing in the sport and his second season driving for the Delray Beach, Florida-based team.

However, after spending each of his first eight seasons in IndyCar as a full-time driver, including the 2018 season when he drove the #23 Carlin Chevrolet, it was also confirmed that the 34-year-old Camarillo, California native would be returning to the team on a part-time basis in the 2019 season.

Now it has been confirmed that Kimball will drive in five of the 17 races on the 2019 schedule. He is set to drive the #23 Chevrolet and he is set to be sponsored by longtime sponsor Novo Nordisk in these five races.

These five races are scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 10, Sunday, May 26, Saturday, June 8, Sunday, August 18 and Sunday, September 22, respectively.

Kimball confirmed this news on his Twitter account.

Here is what Kimball had to say about the opportunity to return to Carlin as a part-time driver in the 2019 season, according to IndyCar.

"“I couldn’t be more excited to continue this partnership with Novo Nordisk for our 11th race season together as well as returning to Carlin for our second season in the NTT IndyCar Series. Novo Nordisk has been such a great partner over the years and it was such a great experience to be a part of Carlin’s first season in the series last year. We had some great highlights and results last year, and I’m really looking forward to getting back in the No. 23 car on the grid at St. Pete!”"

Here is what Carlin team owner Trevor Carlin had to say about the matter, according to IndyCar.

"“It’s been really refreshing to see such a strong, long lasting relationship between a driver and a partner over the years, and it’s been a privilege for us to not only see it firsthand, but also become a part of that partnership. Charlie’s experience has been a real asset for us as we find our way in this series and we’re proud that both he and Novo Nordisk are back with Carlin and on the grid in St. Pete.”"

Kimball recorded one top five finish and six top 10 finishes in last season’s 17 races as the full-time driver of the #23 Carlin Chevrolet. He finished in 17th place in the championship standings with a top finish of fifth place in the race on the streets of Toronto.
