Joey Logano earned his first victory of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season in the season’s third race, the Pennzoil 400, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The Pennzoil-sponsored driver took the checkered flag after leading 86 laps of the 267-lap Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube, which was the third race of the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway before doing donuts on the Pennzoil logo in the track’s infield.

Team Penske’s Joey Logano held off teammate Brad Keselowski, who finished in second place in his #2 Ford after winning last Sunday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, by 0.236 seconds in his #22 Ford to earn his first victory of the season.

Keselowski made a late charge in an attempt to pass Logano coming out of the fourth and final turn on the race’s final lap, but he couldn’t quite get the job done.

Logano’s victory at the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) high-banked Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval in Las Vegas, Nevada is his first since his championship-winning victory in last season’s Championship 4 race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, who won Friday’s Truck Series race and Saturday’s Xfinity Series race at the track, rebounded from a pit road speeding penalty to finish the race as its highest Toyota driver in third place in his #18 Toyota.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick, who started the race from the pole position, finished in fourth place in his #4 Ford. Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver for the second consecutive race. After finishing in third in last Sunday’s race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he finished in fifth in today’s race in his #1 Chevrolet.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #17 Ford, #10 Ford, #19 Toyota, #9 Chevrolet and #11 Toyota, respectively.

The race featured a total of 19 lead changes among nine drivers. Aside of Logano, eight drivers led at least one lap of the race. Those drivers were Keselowski, Kyle Busch, Harvick, Kurt Busch, Stenhouse Jr., William Byron, Daniel Suarez and Austin Dillon. Harvick led more laps than anybody else in the field with 89 laps led. He also won stage one while Logano won stage two.

The race featured no caution flag periods for on-track incidents. The only two caution flag periods that took place throughout the race took place as a result of the endings of stages one and two, and they lasted for a total of 12 laps. Of the 38 drivers who started the race, 37 finished it and 18 finished it on the lead lap.
