NASCAR Cup Series: Ryan Blaney takes pole for 2019 TicketGuardian 500

Ryan Blaney took the pole position for the fourth race of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, the TicketGuardian 500, at ISM Raceway.

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney became the fourth different driver to take a pole position through the first four races of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, as he is set to start the season’s fourth race, the TicketGuardian 500, at ISM Raceway in first place in his #12 Ford.

Blaney took the pole position for the 312-lap race around the four-turn, 1.022-mile (1.645-kilometer ISM Raceway oval in Avondale, Arizona by recording a top lap time of 25.480 seconds (141.287 miles per hour) in the third and final qualifying session for the race. His pole position for this race is the third consecutive pole position earned by a Ford driver.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott was the highest qualifying Chevrolet driver for the race. He qualified in a season-high second place in his #9 Chevrolet. Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch were the highest qualifying Toyota drivers. They are set to start in third and fourth in their #11 Toyota and #18 Toyota, respectively.

Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski rounded out the top five by qualifying in fifth place in his #2 Ford. Hendrick Motorsports teammates Alex Bowman and William Byron qualified in sixth and seventh in their #88 Chevrolet and #24 Chevrolet, respectively, meaning that only three teams are set to be represented in the top seven on the starting grid.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick and Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Martin Truex Jr. and Erik Jones rounded out the top 10 by qualifying in eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #4 Ford, #78 Toyota and #20 Toyota, respectively.

Richard Childress Racing’s Daniel Hemric and Team Penske’s Joey Logano were the other two drivers who made it into the third and final qualifying session for the race. They qualified in 11th and 12th place in their #8 Chevrolet and #22 Ford, respectively.
