Auto Club Speedway is scheduled to host the fifth race of the NASCAR Cup Series season, the Auto Club 400, this Sunday. A total of 38 drivers are set to compete in this race.

Through the first four races of the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, only one race has featured a full entry list. In fact, two drivers had to be bumped from the field for this race, which was the season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway, as the entry list featured a total of 42 drivers.

Through the first five races of the season, this is set to continue be the case, as for the fourth consecutive race, the entry list is not full.

A total of 38 drivers are set to compete in the season’s fifth race, the Auto Club 400, at Auto Club Speedway, making the entry list for this race tied for the second largest entry list of the season. A total of 38 drivers also entered the season’s third race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Meanwhile, just 37 drivers entered the season’s second race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, and a season-low 36 drivers entered the season’s fourth race at ISM Raceway.

Of the 38 drivers who are set to 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.0-mile (3.219-kilometer) Auto Club Speedway oval in Fontana, California, 33 are full-time drivers, of whom 32 are eligible to earn points in the Cup Series, and five are part-time drivers, of whom three are set to drive for chartered teams. However, one of the three drivers who is set to drive for chartered team has not yet been determined. This chartered team, Spire Motorsports, have not yet confirmed who the driver of their #77 Chevrolet will be for this race.

The two confirmed drivers for chartered teams for this race are Petty Ware Racing’s Cody Ware, who is set to drive the #51 Chevrolet, and Rick Ware Racing’s B.J. McLeod, who is set to drive the #52 Chevrolet.

The two part-time drivers who are set to drive for non-chartered teams in this race are Premium Motorsports’ Reed Sorenson, who is set to drive the #27 Chevrolet, and MBM Motorsports’ Joey Gase, who is set to drive the #66 Toyota.

With only 38 of the maximum 40 drivers on the entry list for this race, the fact that three of these part-time drivers are set to drive for chartered teams while two of them are not is not a huge deal, as none of them will be bumped from the field anyway.
