Following Mercedes’ third victory in the first three races of the 2019 Formula 1 season, how do the Formula 1 Team Power Rankings look?

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton earned his second overall victory of the 21-race 2019 Formula 1 season and his second consecutive victory by winning the season’s third race, the Chinese Grand Prix, at Shanghai International Circuit.

By winning this 56-lap race around the 16-turn, 3.388-mile (5.452-kilometer) Shanghai International Circuit road course in Jiading, Shanghai, China, Hamilton delivered Mercedes their third victory in the first three races of the season.

Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas won the season opener, the Australian Grand Prix, before Hamilton went on to win the season’s second race, the Bahrain Grand Prix.

Mercedes have not opened up a season with three consecutive victories since the 2016 season when they opened up the season with four consecutive victories, which were all recorded by eventual champion Nico Rosberg.

But even more impressively, the Brackley-based team have opened up the 2019 season with three consecutive 1-2 finishes, as Hamilton finished in second place in the season opener while Bottas finished in second in the two races that have been contested since then.

This had not been done by any team since Williams pulled it off in the 1992 season with Nigel Mansell winning the season’s first three races and Riccardo Patrese finishing behind him in second place in all three of them.

How did Mercedes’ historic Chinese Grand Prix victory affect the Formula 1 Team Power Rankings? Here are the formulated Formula 1 Team Power Rankings and the non-formulated Formula 1 Team Power Rankings following the third race of the season.
