Austin Dillon took his second pole position of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by taking the pole position for the season’s 10th race, the GEICO 500, at Talladega Superspeedway.

Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon became just the second driver to take two pole positions through the first 10 races of the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season, as he took the pole position for the season’s 10th race, the GEICO 500, at Talladega Superspeedway.

Dillon took the pole position for this 188-lap race around the four-turn, 2.66-mile (4.281-kilometer) high-banked Talladega Superspeedway oval in Lincoln, Alabama by recording a top lap time of 49.734 seconds (192.544 miles per hour) in the second and final round of qualifying in his #3 Chevrolet.

Dillon also infamously took the pole position for the season’s fifth race at Auto Club Speedway without actually recording a lap in what was an embarrassment of a third and final qualifying session for the race. His pole position for tomorrow afternoon’s race is the fifth pole position of his Cup Series career.

The only other driver who has taken two pole positions so far this season is Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick.

Stewart-Haas Racing teammates Aric Almirola and Clint Bowyer and Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski were the highest qualifying Ford drivers for tomorrow afternoon’s race. They qualified in second, third and fourth place in their #10 Ford, #14 Ford and #2 Ford, respectively. Richard Childress Racing rookie Daniel Hemric is set to round out the top five on the starting grid after qualifying in fifth in his #8 Chevrolet.

Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Team Penske teammates Ryan Blaney and Joey Logano, Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson are set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid after qualifying in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #17 Ford, #12 Ford, #22 Ford, #88 Chevrolet and #42 Chevrolet, respectively.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott and Front Row Motorsports’ Michael McDowell were the slowest two of the 12 drivers who advanced to the second and final round of qualifying for the race. They qualified in 11th and 12th place in their #9 Chevrolet and #34 Ford, respectively.

This qualifying session was a disastrous qualifying session for the Toyota drivers. A total of 12 Ford drivers and seven Chevrolet drivers qualified in the top 19. As a result, the highest qualifying Toyota driver of the race, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., qualified all the way back in 20th place in his #19 Toyota.

Here are the full qualifying results for the 2019 GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

NOTE: Tyler Reddick qualified the #62 Beard Motorsports Chevrolet for Brendan Gaughan.
