Brad Keselowski earned his third victory of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by winning the season’s 12th race, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway.

Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski tied Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch atop the wins list through 12 races in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by earning his third victory in the season’s 12th race, the Digital Ally 400, at Kansas Speedway.

This race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Kansas Speedway oval in Kansas City, Kansas was scheduled to be a 267-lap race, but it ended up being a 271-lap race as a result of a late caution flag period that sent it into overtime.

Keselowski started this race in fourth place in his #2 Ford and went on to win it by 0.205 seconds over Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman, who finished in a career-high second place in his #88 Chevrolet for the third consecutive race. No winless driver had ever finished in second in three consecutive races prior to Bowman in Cup Series history.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race and the only Toyota driver who finished in the top 15. He finished in third place in his #20 Toyota. Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott finished in fourth in his #9 Chevrolet ahead of Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer in fifth in his #14 Ford.

Five Chevrolet drivers rounded out the top 10, giving Chevrolet drivers seven of the top 10 positions. Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson, Chip Ganassi Racing teammates Kurt Busch and Kyle Larson, Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick and JTG Daugherty Racing’s Chris Buescher finished in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #48 Chevrolet, #1 Chevrolet, #42 Chevrolet, #31 Chevrolet and #37 Chevrolet, respectively.

The race featured a total of 23 lead changes among 12 drivers. Aside of Keselowski, who led only the race’s final 12 laps, 11 drivers led at least one lap of the race.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick, who started the race from the pole position, led more laps than anybody else in the field with 104 laps led, but his concern over a loose wheel that ended up not being a loose wheel promoted an unscheduled pit stop in stage three, which he did not recover from en route to a 13th place finish.

The other 10 drivers who led at least one lap of the race were Bowman, Elliott, Bowyer, the Busch brothers, Buescher, Roush Fenway Racing’s Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron, Front Row Motorsports rookie Matt Tifft and Premium Motorsports’ Ross Chastain. Harvick won stage one while Elliott won stage two.

The race also featured a total of seven caution flag periods, including four caution flag periods for on-track incidents, two caution flag periods as a result of the endings of stages one and two and one competition caution flag period that took place as a result of the fact that the track had been rained on overnight.

All 40 drivers who started the race finished it, and 14 of those 40 drivers finished the race on the lead lap.
