A total of 24 drivers are set to compete in the Monster Energy Open at Charlotte Motor Speedway with their sights set on qualifying for the Monster Energy All-Star Race.

A total of 24 drivers are set to attempt to qualify for the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race, of which the winner will receive $1,000,000, this Saturday, May 18 at Charlotte Motor Speedway by competing in the Monster Energy Open at the track.

Four of the 24 drivers who are set to compete in this 50-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Charlotte Motor Speedway oval in Concord, North Carolina are set to fill the remaining four open positions in the starting lineup for the 85-lap All-Star Race at the track later on Saturday evening.

A total of 15 drivers have already qualified for the All-Star Race and thus will not compete in the Open.

The Open is set to consist of three stages, including two 20-lap stages and a 10-lap stage to conclude the race. The winners of each of these three stages will locked themselves into the All-Star Race. Once a driver wins a stage, he will not compete in the remainder of the Open.

The fourth and final remaining open position for the All-Star Race will be given to the winner of the All-Star Fan Vote, which you can vote in by clicking here.

Because of the fact that the winner of the All-Star Fan Vote can technically lock himself into the All-Star Race by winning one of the three stages of the Open, the fourth and final remaining open position for the All-Star Race will effectively go to the driver who finishes the highest in the All-Star Fan Vote without winning one of these three stages.
