Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron became the youngest polesitter in Coca-Cola 600 history by taking the pole position for this Sunday’s running of the race, which is the 13th of 36 races on the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The 21-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina native took the pole position for the 400-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Charlotte Motor Speedway oval in Concord, North Carolina by recording a top lap time of 29.440 seconds (183.424 miles per hour) in his #24 Chevrolet.
