Brett Moffitt has earned his first victory of the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season after Ross Chastain failed post-race inspection after the M&M’s 200 at Iowa Speedway.

Niece Motorsports’ Ross Chastain dominated the 23-race 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season’s 10th race, the M&M’s 200, at Iowa Speedway, leading 141 of its 200 laps en route to securing his second victory of the season and his first as a championship eligible-driver.

But the #45 Chevrolet that the 26-year-old Alva, Florida native drove to victory lane in this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 0.875-mile (1.408-kilometer) Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa has failed post-race inspection for being “extremely low” in the front, disqualifying Chastain from the race.

GMS Racing’s Brett Moffitt, the driver who Chastain bumped to the playoff bubble by winning this race, is the official winner of the M&M’s 200. He originally finished 2.717 seconds behind him in second.

Chastain also won stage one and stage two of the race. As a result, ThorSport Racing’s Matt Crafton, who finished stage one in second place, has been declared the stage one winner, and ThorSport Racing’s Ben Rhodes, who finished stage two in second, has been declared the stage two winner.

This victory is the first victory of the 2019 season for the defending champion, and it makes him the third driver to secure himself a playoff berth this season. Hattori Racing Enterprises’ Austin Hill and ThorSport Racing’s Johnny Sauter are the only other two drivers who have done so, as they are the only other two full-time Truck Series drivers who have been victorious so far this year. Chastain won the race at Kansas Speedway last month, but he had not declared for Truck Series points at that time.

Moffitt, who started this race in sixth place in his #24 Chevrolet, officially won it by 5.596 seconds over Rhodes in second in his #99 Ford. Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Harrison Burton was the highest finishing Toyota driver of the race. He finished in third in his #18 Toyota.

ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger and Halmar Friesen Racing’s Stewart Friesen rounded out the top five by finishing fourth and fifth place in their #98 Ford and #52 Chevrolet, respectively.

GMS Racing’s Sheldon Creed, Crafton, Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Chandler Smith, who started the race from the pole position, DGR-Crosley’s Raphael Lessard and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Todd Gilliland rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #2 Chevrolet, #88 Ford, #51 Toyota, #17 Toyota and #4 Toyota, respectively.

Moffitt won this race without leading any of its 200 laps. Aside of Chastain, only three drivers led the race. Smith led 55 laps while Crafton led three and ThorSport Racing’s Johnny Sauter led one.
