Lewis Hamilton took his third pole position of the 2019 Formula 1 season for the season’s eighth race, the French Grand Prix, at Circuit Paul Ricard.

Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport’s Lewis Hamilton took the pole position for the 21-race 2019 Formula 1 season’s eighth race, the French Grand Prix, at Circuit Paul Ricard. This pole position is his third pole position of the season, as he also took the pole position for the season opener, the Australian Grand Prix, and the season’s sixth race, the Monaco Grand Prix.

Hamilton took the pole position for this 53-lap race around the 15-turn, 3.63-mile (5.842-kilometer) Circuit Paul Ricard road course in Le Castellet, France by recording a top lap time of 88.319 seconds (147.964 miles per hour) in the third and final round of qualifying for the race.

Unsurprisingly, Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas is set to start alongside his teammate on the front row for this race in second place, giving the Silver Arrows their sixth front row lockout of the season. Bottas took the pole positions for three of these six races. As a result, he and Hamilton are now tied atop the pole positions list this year.
