NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings after 2019 Toyota/Save Mart 350

How do the full-time teams of the NASCAR Cup Series stack up against one another in the NASCAR Cup Series Team Power Rankings following the Toyota/Save Mart 350?

It’s not as predictable as the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Show, which is sometimes still referred to as Formula 1, but betting on either Joe Gibbs Racing or Team Penske to win a NASCAR Cup Series race these days is like winning free crash.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. won the 36-race 2019 season’s 16th race, the Toyota/Save Mart 350, at Sonoma Raceway.

Truex Jr.’s victory in this 90-lap race around the 12-turn, 2.52-mile (4.056-kilometer) Sonoma Raceway road course in Sonoma, California was his fourth victory and Joe Gibbs Racing’s 10th victory of the season thus far.

Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin have earned Joe Gibbs Racing four victories and two victories this season as well while the team’s other driver, Erik Jones, is still seeking his first win in nearly a year since he won the race at Daytona International Speedway last July to secure the first victory of his Cup Series career.

Joe Gibbs Racing and Team Penske have combined to win 15 of the 16 races that have been contested so far this season, as Brad Keselowski has delivered Team Penske three victories while Joey Logano has delivered them two. Their other driver, Ryan Blaney, is still seeking his first win since he won the race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval last September to secure the second victory of his Cup Series career.

The only one of the season’s first 16 races that was not won by Joe Gibbs Racing or Team Penske was the season’s 10th race at Talladega Superspeedway, which was won by Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott.

Elliott, whose four career Cup Series victories have all come since last August, is still the only Hendrick Motorsports driver who has won a race since the Camaro ZL1 replaced the SS for the Chevrolet teams ahead of the 2018 season, and he is still the only Chevrolet driver who has won a race since Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon won the 2018 season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in his #3 Chevrolet.
