Rich Energy CEO William Storey has reportedly stated that the company have terminated their sponsorship agreement with “milkfloat” Haas in Formula 1.

A weird situation that literally just got weirder…just got even weirder.

Rich Energy and the Haas Formula 1 team reached a title sponsorship agreement ahead of the 2019 Formula 1 season. But nine races into the 21-race season, the British beverage company tweeted that they had terminated their contract with the sport’s lone American team.

They blamed several factors for this decision, including several related to Haas themselves and several related to Formula 1 in general, which you can see in their bizarre tweet below.

Haas team principal Guenther Steiner, however, refused to comment on the ordeal other than to say that the two sides still have a relationship with one another as far as their title sponsorship deal is concerned.

Here is what he had to say.

Rich Energy CEO William Storey is believed to have been responsible for authorizing and/or sending this tweet, and he called the team’s ensuing statement “ludicrous” and “risible”, at least according to the company’s Twitter page.

The team’s ensuing statement pertained to the idea that Rich Energy’s investors were working to salvage the company’s relationship with Haas following Wednesday’s now infamous tweet.

Additionally, in a statement that has been attributed to ”the shareholders who own the majority” of the company, this tweet is described as “rogue actions of one individual”, an individual who the company are reportedly in the process of “legally removing from all executive responsibilities”.

Seems like a big misunderstanding that, despite the major PR headache that has come with it, can be sorted out, right?

Right about it being a misunderstanding — but only because of what else Storey had to say — which, in turn, decreases the likelihood of anything being worked out.

Storey reportedly admitted that Rich Energy have terminated their contract with Haas and ripped the team in the process, calling them a “milkfloat”, while continuing to display the company’s profound obsession with Red Bull Racing.

Here is what Storey had to say about the matter, according to The Sun.

"“We terminated them. Unfortunate but logical decision in light of events. Haas [are] nice people but the car is going backwards. We are a superior product to Red Bull. A milkfloat at back of grid a disaster for us. End of.”"

In simpler terms, nobody has any clue what the heck is going on, but none of it looks good for Rich Energy, especially not as it pertains to their future in Formula 1, much less to their future with Haas.
