NASCAR Cup Series: Kevin Harvick takes pole for 2019 Gander RV 400

Kevin Harvick took his series-high fourth pole position of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season for the Gander RV 400 at Pocono Raceway.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick took the pole position for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season’s 21st overall race and second race at Pocono Raceway, the Gander RV 400. This pole position is his fourth pole position of the season, and it makes him the first driver to take four pole positions this season.

Harvick took the pole position for this 160-lap race around the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Pocono Raceway oval in Long Pond, Pennsylvania by recording a top lap time of 51.707 seconds (174.058 miles per hour) in his Generation X-themed Busch Beer #4 Ford in the single-car qualifying session for this race.

Harvick led a top three sweep by Ford drivers in this qualifying session, as Team Penske’s Joey Logano qualified in second place in his #22 Ford and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola qualified in third in his #10 Ford. Harvick’s top lap time was more than two tenths of a second faster than Logano’s, which was 51.910 seconds (173.377 miles per hour).

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones was the highest qualifying Toyota driver for this race. He qualified in fourth place in his #20 Toyota. Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon was the highest qualifying Chevrolet driver for this race. He qualified in fifth in his #3 Chevrolet.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez are set to round out the top 10 of the starting grid for this race after qualifying in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #48 Chevrolet, #18 Toyota, #24 Chevrolet, #1 Chevrolet and #41 Ford, respectively.
