A total of 38 drivers are set to compete in the First Data 500, the opening race of the round of 8 of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, at Martinsville Speedway.

The round of 12 of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs is in the books, leaving just two of the scheduled four rounds and four of the scheduled 10 playoff races to be contested before the champion is crowned in just a few weeks at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The opening race of the round of 8, the third round of the playoffs, is scheduled to take place this Sunday, October 27 at Martinsville Speedway. This race, the First Data 500, is the second race at Martinsville Speedway of the season, as the first was held back in March and was won by Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski.

A total of 38 drivers are set to compete in Sunday afternoon’s 500-lap race around the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) Martinsville Speedway oval in Ridgeway, Virginia, and Keselowski is one of the 33 full-time drivers who are set to compete in it. However, he has already been eliminated from playoff contention.

Half of these 16 drivers have been eliminated from championship contention, with four having been eliminated following the round of 16 and another four having been eliminated following the round of 12. Eight drivers are still championship eligible with four races remaining in the season.

Also set to compete in this race are five part-time drivers, of whom three are set to drive for chartered teams and two are set to drive for non-chartered teams.

Two of the three part-time drivers who are set to drive for chartered teams in this race have not yet been confirmed, but they are set to drive for Petty Ware Racing and Rick Ware Racing. The one who has been determined is Timmy Hill, who is set to drive for Spire Motorsports.

The two part-time drivers who are set to drive for non-chartered teams in this race are Premium Motorsports’ Reed Sorenson and Rick Ware Racing’s J.J. Yeley.
