Brandon Jones has been confirmed by Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, which is set to be his third consecutive year with the team.

Less than two weeks after securing the first victory of his NASCAR Xfinity Series career, Brandon Jones has been confirmed as the driver of the #19 Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing for the 2020 season.

Jones has driven for the team since last season after spending two full seasons and part of another one driving for Richard Childress Racing.

Here is what the 22-year-old Atlanta, Georgia native had to say about the opportunity to be back behind the wheel of the #19 Toyota for the third consecutive year next year, according to NASCAR.

"“I couldn’t be happier to be back and race in 2020 with Joe Gibbs Racing,” stated Brandon Jones. “I am very proud of my team and the huge strides and experience we have gained over the past two years. I am ready for this next opportunity and challenge.”"

Here is what Steve deSouza, the executive vice president of Xfinity and development for Joe Gibbs Racing, had to add.

"“We are excited to have Brandon back at Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) in 2020 and with his experience take over as the senior driver in our NASCAR Xfinity Series program. He has steadily improved over the past two years and has proven that he can compete with the top contenders in the series.  We expect him to be a top challenger for the championship next year.”"

After making 73 starts for Richard Childress Racing, including 66 as a full-time driver in the 2016 and 2017 seasons, and recording 15 top 10 finishes and one pole position but without finishing a single race in the top five, Jones has seen more success in his two seasons driving for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Last season, he recorded two top five finishes and 17 top 10 finishes along with one pole position, leading a career-high 173 of the 5,352 laps he completed on the 33-race schedule. His average finish was a career-high 13.6, and he finished in a career-high ninth place in the championship standings after being eliminated following the round of 12 of the playoffs.

Through the first 30 races of the 33-race 2019 season, he has recorded five top five finishes and 14 top 10 finishes, including his first career victory at Kansas Speedway.

Unfortunately for Jones, he had already been eliminated following the round of 12 of the playoffs, so his victory in this round of 8 race did not advance him to the Championship 4. He has led 104 of the 4,484 laps that he has completed this season, and his average finish is 15.3. He sits in 10th place in the championship standings.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s full-time driver lineup for the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season is now set, as they have already confirmed that Harrison Burton is set to replace the Cup Series-bound Christopher Bell behind the wheel of the #20 Toyota. The #18 Toyota is expected to feature multiple drivers once again.
