Tom Brady was asked about Formula 1 in a New England Patriots press conference this week. In responding to the question, he revealed that a driver lives one floor above him in New York.

Tom Brady’s press conference ahead of the New England Patriots’ Sunday night matchup against the Baltimore Ravens opened up with an unusual question by NFL standards for the six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback.

The reporter wanted to know how Brady, as somebody who has been on the cusp of winning a sixth championship, felt about the pursuit of six titles by Formula 1‘s Lewis Hamilton.

For Hamilton, pretty much everything need to go wrong for him not to secure his sixth career title in this afternoon’s United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas, and even if it does, he still has the Brazilian Grand Prix and the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to potentially close things out.

More from Formula One

More than likely, Hamilton will be Formula 1’s second ever champion by the time the weekend comes to an end and the first since now seven-time champion Michael Schumacher secured his sixth title in the 2003 season.

Brady, who has attended Formula 1 races on multiple occasions before, offered high praise for Hamilton ahead of this Sunday afternoon’s 56-lap race around the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.515-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas road course in Austin, Texas

But he also offered something else that perhaps not many people knew about the soon-to-be six-time champion, particularly as it relates to Brady himself.

Here is what NFL’s only ever six-time Super Bowl champion had to say about the matter.

"“I’ve followed him for a little bit. I’ve kind of gone to a few of those races and those guys are super talented. I think it’s tough to stay at the top, and talking to guys that know him and that race against him, he just sees things differently than everyone else.“So, I think that’s what makes him so exceptional. I think it’s a lot like that for football players too is, you know, you take people that kind of all do the same thing, but then someone always sees it a different way. The uniqueness, and then the competitiveness, and then the competitive stamina help you stay on top.“He’s my neighbor. He lives a floor above me in New York.”"

So before long, there will be 12 NFL and Formula 1 world championships between floors in that particular building. We’ll venture to guess that this isn’t the case anywhere else in the world.
