Kyle Busch is on pole at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after a rainout caused the starting lineup to be set based on the NASCAR rulebook.

The starting lineup for the first intermediate track race of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season has been set by the NASCAR rulebook after rain affected the schedule for the second consecutive week to open up the 36-race campaign.

UPDATE: Kyle Busch penalized; Martin Truex Jr. now on pole.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch is set to start on the pole position for his home race, the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, as the starting lineup was set based on 2019 owner points.

Set to start alongside Busch’s #18 Toyota in this 267-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Las Vegas, Nevada is teammate Martin Truex Jr., the most recent winner at the track. He won the round of 16 playoff race there in September behind the wheel of the #19 Toyota.
