On the second weekend of 2020 NASCAR competition, yet another race has been postponed due to rain, this one the Xfinity Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

For the second weekend in a row to open up the 2020 NASCAR season, a race has been delayed, started, halted and moved to the following day due to rain.

After the Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 was delayed, started, stopped and then moved from Sunday to Monday due to the wet weather at Daytona International Speedway last week, a similar thing happened to yesterday’s Xfinity Series race, the Boyd Gaming 300, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Following a rain delay, just 50 of the scheduled 200 laps of the race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Las Vegas, Nevada had been contested following when the cars were led down pit road.

After another delay of several hours, the remaining 150 laps of the season’s second event were officially rescheduled to this evening. This race is scheduled to get back underway after this afternoon’s 267-lap Cup Series race, the Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube, at the track.

Qualifying for this Cup Series race was scheduled to take place yesterday afternoon, but rain ultimately caused that session to be canceled as well, and the starting lineup was set based on 2019 owner points, with a few drivers being sent to the rear of the field for various infractions.

The Pennzoil 400 presented by Jiffy Lube is set to be broadcast live on Fox beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET, so the provisional resumption time for the Boyd Gaming 300 has been set for 7:30 p.m. ET, although it is officially set to resume one hour after the checkered flag flies to end the Cup Series race. Live coverage of the Xfinity Series race is set to be broadcast on Fox Sports 2.
