NASCAR: 5 non-NASCAR tracks where eNASCAR iRacing should race
3. Mount Panorama Circuit
Out of all the tracks on this list, this choice seems the most likely to me. Mount Panorama Circuit is a phenomenal track known for its speed, elevation change and degree of difficulty.
With such little room for error, it would be very entertaining to watch some of NASCAR’s best take on the 23-turn, 3.861-mile (6.214-kilometer) road course in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia, even if it’s only virtually.
Australian V8 Supercars provide amazing racing at the track each year during the Bathurst 1000, so there is no reason why NASCAR can’t also provide some quality racing there. Having a race at Mount Panorama would also get some drivers from other series interested in participating in an eNASCAR event, specifically V8 Supercar drivers.
I would not be surprised if Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin were to compete in a virtual event at Bathurst. We have seen him race in the IndyCar iRacing Challenge events; he even won the race at Barber Motorsports Park.
There are also a few top-level drivers in IndyCar who I wouldn’t be surprised to see in an eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series race if the race at Mount Panorama. Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe both competed in the Bathurst 1000 last year, so they are familiar with the track.
We have already seen some NASCAR drivers partake in the virtual IndyCar races on iRacing, including Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr. This could present a good opportunity for some IndyCar drivers to compete in a NASCAR event. Getting drivers from other series involved in eNASCAR events is a good way to get more fans to tune in.
