NASCAR: The hits keep coming for Kyle Larson
By Asher Fair
iRacing has now suspended NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson from utilizing their racing simulator service after Sunday evening’s incident.
The hits and suspensions just keep coming for Chip Ganassi Racing NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson following Sunday evening’s incident in the virtual race at Autodromo Nazionale Monza on iRacing.
Larson appeared to lose communication with his spotter and proceeded to say “Hey N*****” into his headset in an attempt to get his attention.
This racial slur was heard not only by the other 61 racers in the field but by everybody watching the race, as it was being streamed live on Twitch.
A few of the other drivers were quick to let the 27-year-old Elk Grove, California native know that everyone could hear what he said.
“Kyle, you’re talking to everyone bud,” one said.
“Yikes,” said another.
As expected, this sent Twitter ablaze, and unsurprisingly, Chip Ganassi Racing, NASCAR and Larson all commented about the matter earlier today.

Chip Ganassi Racing suspended the six-time Cup Series race winner without pay.
NASCAR upped that suspension to an indefinite suspension that cannot end until he completes sensitivity training. Larson then apologized via a video that he posted on social media.
But the hits keep coming for the driver of the #42 Chevrolet, as now iRacing has released their own statement. In this statement, they have confirmed that Larson has been suspended indefinitely from utilizing their racing simulator service.
"“iRacing considers itself to be a welcome and inclusive community for racing enthusiasts all around the world. We have strict policies against offensive behavior and language. Kyle Larson’s language last night during a streamed online race was both offensive and inappropriate, and in violation of our sporting code. As such, Kyle Larson has been suspended indefinitely from the iRacing service.”"
This means that Larson will be unable to compete in the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, which NASCAR and iRacing introduced in response to the real-world postponements brought about by the coronavirus pandemic. Through three races, he has a best finish of ninth place at virtual Texas Motor Speedway.
After a week off for Easter, the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series is scheduled to resume this Sunday, April 19 at virtual Richmond Raceway. This race is set to be simulcast live on Fox, Fox Sports 1 and the Fox Sports app beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET.
