NASCAR has altered the scheduled start time for Wednesday night’s Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway, moving it up to 6:00 p.m. ET.

Wednesday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington Raceway, the Toyota 500, had originally been scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m. ET.

But due to the threat of inclement weather, including rain and thunderstorms, in the area, NASCAR has moved the scheduled start time up by an hour and a half to 6:00 p.m. ET.

Fox Sports 1 is still set to broadcast this race live from the four-turn, 1.366-mile (2.198-kilometer) oval in Darlington, South Carolina, and the race is still scheduled to be a 228-lap race.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

This news comes after NASCAR altered the scheduled start time for this evening’s Xfinity Series race at “The Lady in Black”. This 147-lap race had been scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m. ET, but that was bumped up by two hours to 6:00 p.m. ET.

Unlike the Cup Series, which competed at the track “Too Tough To Tame” this past Sunday to end a 70-day hiatus from live action brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the Xfinity Series has not been in action since the pandemic struck. Tonight’s race, if it happens, would end a 73-day hiatus that began following the race at Phoenix Raceway back on Saturday, March 7.

Sunday’s Cup Series race was the first since the one contested at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, March 8.
