NASCAR: Martinsville starting lineup – Ryan Blaney on pole

Ryan Blaney drew the pole position for Wednesday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500.

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney took the pole position for this Wednesday evening’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway, the Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 500, via the owner standings-based random draw to determine the starting lineup. Blaney last started a race from the pole position in March of 2019 at Phoenix Raceway.

Blaney, who has six career pole positions, is set to start Wednesday night’s 500-lap race around the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) oval in Ridgeway, Virginia alongside Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola in second place in his #10 Ford.

Almirola has now drawn the second place starting position for each of the last three races.

Ford drivers swept the top four positions of this random draw, as the second row is also set to feature one Team Penske driver and one Stewart-Haas Racing driver. Team Penske’s Joey Logano is set to start in third place in his #22 Ford while Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer is set to start in fourth in his #14 Ford.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. drew the highest starting position among the Toyota drivers, as he is set to start in fifth place in his #19 Toyota alongside Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski in sixth in his #2 Ford.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch is set to start in seventh place in his #18 Toyota alongside the highest starting Chevrolet driver, Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman in eighth in his #88 Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick are set to round out the top 10 in ninth and 10th place in their #1 Chevrolet and #4 Ford, respectively.
