NASCAR: Bubba Wallace to address noose situation

After the so-called “noose” turned out to be a garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace is set to address the issue.
What was first reported as a “noose” in the garage stall of NASCAR‘s lone full-time African-American Cup Series driver, Bubba Wallace, on Sunday night at Talladega Superspeedway turned out to be nothing more than a garage door pull rope fashioned like in a noose following an FBI investigation.
While we still don’t have all of the details on how this scaffold knot, which has reportedly been in that particular stall since the October race at the same venue, prompted such an investigation, Wallace himself is set to address the issue.
According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, Wallace is set to appear this evening on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, to whom he previously spoke about why NASCAR needed to ban the Confederate flag. That ban has since been put into place.

Wallace had previously stated that he was offended at those who thought the incident was a hoax.
While this was certainly not a staged hoax, the fact that it became a national news story which amounted to nothing more than a misinterpretation has caused even more tension within the sport’s fanbase than there already was given the events of recent weeks, especially given the fact that anybody who dared question what had gone on was immediately criticized and mocked.
Of course, the biggest takeaway from the whole thing is that no hate crime was committed. Nobody was out to get the 26-year-old Mobile, Alabama native, and for that we can all be glad. Now we wait to hear what Wallace, who reportedly never saw the rope in question, himself has to say.
