Martin Truex Jr. drew the pole position for this Wednesday evening’s NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

By virtue of a random draw, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. took the pole position for the NASCAR Cup Series All-Star Race this Wednesday evening at Bristol Motor Speedway.

This All-Star Race is set to be the first one contested at a track other than Charlotte Motor Speedway since 1986 when it was held at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Truex is set to lead the field to the green flag in this 140-lap race around the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilometer) high-banked oval in Bristol, Tennessee in his #19 Toyota alongside Hendrick Motorsports’ Alex Bowman in second place in his #88 Chevrolet.

A total of 16 drivers have qualified for this year’s All-Star Race by meeting one or more of the following three requirements: (a) won a Cup Series championship, (b) won a Cup Series race in the 2019 and/or 2020 seasons or (c) won a past All-Star Race.

Team Penske’s Ryan Blaney is set to start in third place in his #12 Ford alongside Spire Motorsports’ Justin Haley in fourth in his #77 Chevrolet. Haley, who has never been a full-time Cup Series driver, earned his spot in the race by pulling off an upset win at Daytona International Speedway last July. It was not a sure thing that he would land a ride to compete in this race, but Spire Motorsports, the team for which he won at Daytona, gave him that chance.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick is set to start in fifth place in his #4 Ford alongside Chip Ganassi Racing’s Matt Kenseth in sixth in his #42 Chevrolet.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch is set to start in seventh in his #1 Chevrolet alongside Stewart-Haas Racing rookie Cole Custer, who earned his eligibility by winning at Kentucky Speedway this past Sunday, in eighth in his #41 Ford.

Set to round out the top 10 in ninth and 10th place in their #2 Ford and #18 Toyota are Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, respectively.

Four more drivers are slated to qualify for the race, with three set to do so by winning one of the three stages of the All-Star Open and another set to do so by winning the NASCAR Fan Vote. If the winner of the NASCAR Fan Vote wins a stage of the All-Star Open, the fourth spot will go to the next highest finisher in the vote.

These four drivers are set to line up from 17th to 20th place, with the three All-Star Open stage winners set to line up from 17th to 19th (in the order of the stage they won) and the NASCAR Fan Vote winner set to line up in 20th.
