NASCAR has finally gone ahead and postponed the Cup Series playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway to Wednesday due to rain.

Mid-week racing is back in the NASCAR Cup Series.

For the third day in a row, the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 round of 8 playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway has been postponed to tomorrow.

The 334-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Fort Worth, Texas got underway as scheduled on Sunday, October 25, but the rains came after 52 laps and brought out the red flag.

Despite an amazing effort by the track-drying crew, the race ended up being postponed to Monday. Another amazing effort was all for naught on Monday, as there was no window during which the race could have been contested, and the same was the case for today.

Now the race has been moved to Wednesday, with live coverage of the remaining 282 laps set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.

According to The Weather Channel, it does appear that the race should be able to be finished tomorrow. With that being said, reaching the halfway mark (167 laps) is all that is needed to make the event official, should it need to be halted yet again due to bad weather. The goal is still to run the full distance.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer is the race leader after four lead changes. A full restarting lineup is available here, and a “points as they run” chart for the eight remaining championship contenders during this multi-day red flag period is available here.
