The NASCAR Cup Series round of 8 playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway is now scheduled to restart at 5:00 p.m. ET following multiple postponements.

Day four of the 2020 Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 500 NASCAR Cup Series round of 8 playoff race at Texas Motor Speedway should hopefully be the final day of this event, which has been prolonged by three days of rain postponements.

This race, which was moved from Sunday to Monday and then from Monday to Tuesday and then from Tuesday to Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. ET due to rain, will not get restarted at 3:00 p.m. ET this afternoon, but the plan is still to run it today.

NASCAR has announced that the goal is to restart the race at 5:00 p.m. ET. NBC Sports Network is set to provide live coverage of the event whenever it does end up being restarted.

Fortunately, 52 laps of this 334-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Fort Worth, Texas were able to be completed on Sunday afternoon before the rains came down and the red flag flew.

While NASCAR would not attempt to run a race for the sole purpose of getting to the halfway mark to deem it official, this race would be classified as official as long as 167 laps are completed. However, the weather forecast, according to The Weather Channel, indicates that all of the remaining 282 laps should be able to be contested by the end of the evening.

Following the first 52 laps and four lead changes, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer is the race leader. A full restarting lineup is available here, and a “points as they run” chart for the eight remaining championship contenders at the time of the red flag is accessible here.
