The qualifying order for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 is set. Here’s how the cars will roll off this evening.

Single-car qualifying to set the front row for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season-opening Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway is scheduled to take place this evening, and the qualifying order is set.

This order, which includes all 44 cars on the entry list, was determined by two random draws. The 24 cars lowest in the 2020 owner standings drew for spots 1 through 24 while the top 20 cars in the 2020 owner standings draw for spots 25 through 44.

Kaulig Racing’s Kaz Grala, who is not locked into the race, is set to be the first to qualify for this 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) high-banked oval in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The 36 chartered cars locked into the race and the eight non-chartered cars battling for the final four spots in the 40-car field are all set to make qualifying runs.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

The fastest two drivers will secure their starting positions on the front row for Sunday’s 63rd annual running of the “Great American Race”, while the entire results of today’s session will solidify the starting lineups for tomorrow evening’s Bluegreen Vacations Duels.

The drivers in the even positions in tonight’s session will compete in the second of the two Duels tomorrow evening, and the drivers in the odd positions, including the Daytona 500 polesitter, will compete in the first. Those two races will ultimately determine the entire Daytona 500 starting lineup.

Two of the drivers of the non-chartered cars will secure their spots in the main race based on their qualifying times in tonight’s session, and two more will do so tomorrow evening in the Duels. The Duels will also determine which four drivers won’t qualify for the race.
