NASCAR: 3 drivers penalized ahead of Kansas race

Three drivers are set to drop to the rear of the field ahead of this afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway.

Ahead of this afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, two cars failed pre-race inspection twice and unapproved adjustments were made to another one.

As a result, three drivers are set to drop to the rear of the field at the start of this 267-lap Buschy McBusch Race 400 at the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas.

The #42 Chevrolet of Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ross Chastain and the #43 Chevrolet of Richard Petty Motorsports’ Erik Jones both failed pre-race inspection twice. Unapproved adjustments were made to the #38 Ford of Front Row Motorsports rookie Anthony Alfredo.

Alfredo was set to start the race on the outside of the 11th row in 22nd place ahead of Chastain on the outside of the 12th row in 24th. Jones was set to start the race on the inside of the 14th row in 27th.

Alfredo and Chastain are set to drop to the tail end of the outside lane while Jones is set to drop to the tail end of the inside lane. So Alfredo is now set to star the race in 36th place ahead of Chastain in 38th and Jones in 39th.
