Follow along with Saturday’s qualifying session for Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Kansas Speedway, the AdventHealth 400.

For the first time since October 2019, the NASCAR Cup Series is set to have a qualifying session at Kansas Speedway.

With practice and qualifying sessions canceled for much of the 2020 and 2021 seasons, both races at the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas each year had their starting lineups set by either random draws or the lineup formula.

But the starting lineup for this Sunday afternoon’s race, the 267-lap AdventHealth 400, at Kansas Speedway is set to be determined by Saturday’s qualifying session.

The single-car format used for this qualifying session is the same new format which was introduced for most other oval races this season.

Drivers are split into two groups based on their results in the most recent race, with the qualifying order determined by what was formerly the lineup formula (full rundown here).

Each driver makes a single-lap attempt, and the fastest five drivers from each group move on to round two. Those 10 drivers each make another single-lap attempt, with the fastest driver taking the pole position.

Who will take the pole position for the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway?
