Keep tabs on the qualifying session for the first ever NASCAR Cup Series race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

For the first time ever, the NASCAR Cup Series is set to race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway this Sunday afternoon. The Enjoy Illinois 300 is the 15th of 36 races on the 2022 schedule.

The qualifying session for this inaugural 240-lap race around the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.012-kilometer) oval in Madison, Illinois is set to utilize the same new format that has been utilized for most oval races this season.

In the first of two rounds of qualifying, drivers are split up into two groups based on the results of the most recent race at Charlotte Motor Speedway last Sunday night, with the order of each group determined by the formula that was formerly used to determine the starting lineups in the absence of qualifying.

In this single-car session, each drivers makes one qualifying attempt, and the fastest five drivers in each group advance to the second round to battle for the pole position with another qualifying attempt.

The second round sets the top 10 in the starting lineup, and the rest of the lineup is determined by the first round speeds, regardless of group number.

Follow along with our live qualifying updates for the inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
