An in-season IndyCar championship odds update is almost unheard of, but DraftKings Sportsbook has changed that seven races into the 17-race 2023 season.

You will typically see no more than individual race odds (if even that) on the IndyCar side throughout the season.

The only IndyCar championship odds that tend to be posted until very, very late in the season (if at all) are only posted at select sportsbooks over the winter break, and they are usually removed once the season begins.

It is a stark contrast to how things are handled on the NASCAR and Formula 1 side, with regular championship odds updated after each and every race on the calendar — in addition to individual race odds for each event.

But amid IndyCar’s lone off week since early May, DraftKings Sportsbook has finally revealed their list of odds to win the 2023 IndyCar championship.

Unsurprisingly, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou, the winner — and dominator — of two of the three most recent races is the favorite at -180 (bet $180 to win $100).

Palou owns at 51-point lead in the point standings over teammate Marcus Ericsson, who is interestingly not listed as the second favorite.

Pre-season favorite and Indy 500 winner Josef Newgarden, the top Team Penske driver in third place in the standings, is listed as the second favorite at +400 (bet $100 to win $400).

Here is the full list of the 2023 IndyCar championship odds with seven of this year’s 17 scheduled races in the books, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
