This weekend's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Martinsville Speedway is set to be the first since the 2020 season finale at Phoenix Raceway without Rackley WAR in the field.
Before this past weekend's race at Talladega Superspeedway, the team announced that the race would be their last in the series and that they would be ceasing their Truck Series operations completely moving forward, without finishing out the 2026 season at Martinsville or Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Dawson Sutton spent the past two seasons as the full-time driver of the No. 26 Chevrolet, which was not a full-time entry before 2025. His top finish of fourth place came at Talladega Superspeedway in 2025, en route to a 22nd place finish in the championship standings. He is 18th after making 22 starts in 23 races this year, with a top result of seventh at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The No. 25 Chevrolet was the team's full-time entry from 2021 to 2024. Matt DiBenedetto was its full-time driver in 2022 and up until there were three races to go in 2023, while Ty Dillon was its full-time driver in 2024 up until there were five races to go, at which point Sutton took over. The team occasionally ran two entries in each season other than 2023.
Rackley WAR is NASCAR's third lost team in 2026
Rackley WAR's departure makes them the third team NASCAR has lost in 2026 alone. AM Racing shut down their O'Reilly Auto Parts Series operation after running only the first seven races of the season with Nick Sanchez in the No. 25 Ford.
Sanchez's full-time deal with the team initially appeared like a career lifeline after he surprisingly lost his ride with Big Machine Racing to Patrick Staropoli after the 2025 season. AM Racing had run full-time in the series since 2023. Sanchez has since competed in 10 races for Peterson Racing.
Then there is Hettinger Racing, which have not officially shut down, but have also not appeared in a race since running the season's first 11 events (including a DNQ at Circuit of the Americas).
Their 11th and most recent start came at Talladega in April, with J.J. Yeley behind the wheel of the No. 5 Ford, and the following weekend's race at Texas Motor Speedway marked the first O'Reilly Series race in 35 years without a Ford, snapping a 1,116-race streak. More than six months later, there is no timetable on a return.
