Race number four of the 10-race 2026 NASCAR Cup Series playoff schedule is scheduled to take place this Sunday afternoon at Kansas Speedway, and for just the sixth time in the 2026 season (and second time this postseason), there are no non-chartered (open) cars on the entry list.
Only the 36 full-time chartered cars are set to run Sunday's 267-lap Hollywood Casino 400 around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Kansas City, Kansas, after they were joined by one open car this past weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway.
The No. 66 Garage 66 (MBM Motorsports) Ford was fielded for Josh Bilicki at Bristol, but it will not run this weekend, and no other open cars have been added to the Kansas entry list.
No open cars at Kansas after Garage 66 runs at Bristol
Garage 66, which have made 13 appearances so far in 2026, do plan to return later this year, with their next scheduled race being the mid-October race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Gray Gaulding is set to run that race, as well as the early November race at Martinsville Speedway, while the team have yet to confirm a driver for the late October race at Talladega Superspeedway.
As of now, there are no open cars expected to run next weekend's playoff race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway either.
Not since the June 2024 races at Iowa Speedway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway have two consecutive races been run with only 36 cars, and it hasn't happened in the postseason since the 2023 season ended with four of such races in a row at Las Vegas, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Martinsville, and Phoenix Raceway.
