IndyCar: Scott Dixon tops second 2018 Honda Indy Toronto practice session

Scott Dixon topped the speed chart in the second of three practice sessions for the Honda Indy Toronto, which is the 12th race of the 2018 IndyCar season.

The speed chart in the second of three practice sessions for the Honda Indy Toronto, which is the 12th of 17 races in the 2018 IndyCar season, the eighth of 11 road or street course races in the season and the fifth of five street course races in the season, was topped by Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who also topped the speed chart in the first practice session for the race.

Dixon topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 59.0751 seconds (108.838 miles per hour) in his #9 Honda around the 11-turn, 1.786-mile (2.874-kilometer) temporary street circuit at Exhibition Place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Dixon led a top five Honda sweep of the speed chart in this practice session. Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing teammates Takuma Sato and Graham Rahal finished in second and fourth place in their #30 Honda and #15 Honda, respectively. Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti finished in third in his #98 Honda and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi finished in fifth in his #27 Honda.

Those five Honda drivers also finished in the top five on the speed chart in the first practice session but in a different order aside of Dixon on top in first place.

Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver on the speed chart in this practice session. He finished in sixth place in his #21 Chevrolet. Josef Newgarden was Team Penske’s highest finishing driver in this practice session. He finished in seventh in his #1 Chevrolet.

All but one of the 12 Honda drivers finished the practice session in the top 15. The lone Honda driver who did not was Zachary Claman DeMelo, who finished in 23rd (last) place in his #19 Dale Coyne Racing Honda. Chevrolet drivers took each of the seven positions from 16th through 22nd.

The third and final practice session for the Honda Indy Toronto is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at 9:50 a.m. ET. Qualifying for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon at 1:55 p.m. ET.

Both of these sessions are scheduled to be broadcast live on IndyCar RaceControl, the IndyCar app, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and qualifying is scheduled to re-air at 5:00 p.m. ET tomorrow evening on NBC Sports Network.
