Conor Daly topped the speed chart in the fourth practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s sixth race, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.

Andretti Autosport’s Conor Daly topped the fourth practice session, the Fast Friday practice session, for the sixth race on the 17-race IndyCar schedule, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Daly topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 38.8427 seconds (231.704 miles per hour) around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana in his #25 Honda.

Daly led a top two Andretti Autosport sweep and a top three Honda sweep of the speed chart in this practice session, as Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato finished in second and third place in their #98 Honda and #30 Honda, respectively.

Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of the practice session. He finished in fourth place in his #21 Chevrolet. Ryan Hunter-Reay gave Andretti Autosport three of the top five positions on the speed chart by finishing in fifth in his #28 Honda.

Chevrolet drivers rounded out the top 13 on the speed chart in this practice session. Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Carpenter, Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, Carlin’s Charlie Kimball and Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden finished in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth place in their #20 Chevrolet, #22 Chevrolet, #23 Chevrolet and #2 Chevrolet, respectively.

Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones, Team Penske’s Will Power, A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Sage Karam finished in 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th place in their #63 Chevrolet, #12 Chevrolet, #14 Chevrolet and #24 Chevrolet, respectively.

While 36 drivers participated in this practice session, a total of 37 positions were occupied on the speed chart. This is the case because of the fact that Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s J.R. Hildebrand also completed a few laps behind the wheel of Karam’s #24 Chevrolet.

Juncos Racing’s Kyle Kaiser, who was the only one of the 36 drivers who participated in this practice session but did no complete an up-to-speed lap, was involved in a massive crash early in the session. He was checked, cleared and released from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway infield medical care center following this incident.

Here is a video of Kaiser’s wreck.
