Alexander Rossi finished the 2019 IndyCar season’s 10th race, the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America, in a different time zone.

Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi took the lead of the 10th race of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season at the start, and he never relinquished it on the track en route to the most dominant victory in American open-wheel racing in the last decade.

Rossi started this 55-lap race around the 14-turn, 4.048-mile (6.515-kilometer) Road America natural terrain road course in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin in second place in his #27 Honda and passed race polesitter Colton Herta of Harding Steinbrenner Racing by turn two on the opening lap.

Rossi only failed to lead one of the race’s 55 laps as a result of the fact that Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal made his final pit stop one lap later than he did.

Team Penske teammates Will Power and Josef Newgarden rounded out the podium by finishing in second and third place in their #12 Chevrolet and #2 Chevrolet. Power finished a whopping 28.4391 seconds behind Rossi with Newgarden finishing an additional 3.4052 seconds behind Power.

Rahal finished in fourth place in his #15 Honda. After spinning out on the opening lap and falling to 23rd (last), Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon rallied for a fifth place finish in his #9 Honda despite the fact that the race did not feature any caution flag periods. He finished ahead of rookie teammate Felix Rosenqvist in sixth in his #10 Honda.

Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe held off the rookie Herta for seventh place in his #5 Honda following an intense battle with Herta, Dixon and Rosenqvist in the closing laps of the race.

Herta finished in eighth place in his #88 Honda after his tires were pretty much gone during these closing laps. His chances of a podium finish went out the window with a slow pit stop.

Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato rounded out the top 10 by finishing in ninth and 10th place in their #22 Chevrolet and #30 Honda, respectively.

Of the 23 drivers who started the race, only Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti failed to finish it as a result of a mechanical issue. Of the 22 drivers who finished this race, 16 finished on the lead lap.
