Sebastian Vettel ended his 22-race Formula 1 win drought by holding off teammate Charles Leclerc to win the Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel entered the Singapore Grand Prix, the 15th of 21 races on the 2019 Formula 1 schedule, at Marina Bay Street Circuit having watched teammate Charles Leclerc win both of the last two races, the Belgian Grand Prix and the Italian Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old German was on a 22-race win drought, as his most recent victory came in the Belgian Grand Prix in August of 2018.

Vettel ended that win drought by holding off Leclerc, who started the race from the pole position, following a pit strategy call by Ferrari that shot Vettel from third place to the lead ahead of his teammate via the undercut.

Vettel started this 61-lap race around the 23-turn, 3.146-mile (5.063-kilometer) Marina Bay Street Circuit temporary street circuit in Marina Bay, Singapore in third place, and he held off Leclerc in second by 2.641 seconds to win it.

Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen finished in third place, marking just the second race of the season that did not result in a Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport driver finishing on the podium. Mercedes teammates Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Red Bull Racing’s Alexander Albon, McLaren rookie Lando Norris, Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly, Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg and Alfa Romeo Racing rookie Antonio Giovinazzi rounded out the top 10 by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place, respectively.

This race featured three lead changes among four drivers. Aside of Vettel, who led a race-high 31 laps, Leclerc, Hamilton and Giovinazzi also led the race. The race featured three late safety car periods, and 17 of the 20 drivers who started it finished it, with all 17 finishing on the lead lap.
