Daniel Suarez hinted that an announcement pertaining to his future at Stewart-Haas Racing beyond the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season is imminent.

With the confirmation that Clint Bowyer is set to return to the team as the driver of the #14 Ford for the fourth consecutive year in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, Stewart-Haas Racing have now secured 75% of their four-car lineup for the 2020 season.

In addition to Bowyer, Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola are also set to return next year for their seventh and third seasons within the organization, respectively. Harvick drives the #4 Ford and Almriola drives the #10 Ford.

The team’s other driver, Daniel Suarez, does not have a contract to return to the team as the driver of the #41 Ford next year.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

The 27-year-old Mexican is currently in his first season driving for the four-car Ford team after spending two seasons driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, the first two seasons of his Cup Series career. He replaced Carl Edwards ahead of the 2017 season behind the wheel of the #19 Toyota after Edwards unexpectedly announced his retirement.

Ahead of the 2019 season, Suarez was replaced by Martin Truex Jr., and he made the move to Stewart-Haas Racing as the replacement for Kurt Busch, who replaced Jamie McMurray at Chip Ganassi Racing.

There have been various reports throughout most of the 2019 season stating that Suarez and Stewart-Haas Racing are “working on” a contract extension for next year.

There have also been rumors that Stewart-Haas Racing Xfinity Series superstar Cole Custer may get the nod and replace either Suarez or Bowyer next year. With Bowyer now under contract for the 2020 season, all eyes have officially turned to Suarez.

But Suarez hinted this past weekend, even before the Bowyer contract was announced, that there could be some breaking news about his future with Stewart-Haas Racing within the next week or two, meaning that some kind of announcement could be on its way within about a week.

Here is what Suarez had to say about the matter, according to RACER.

"“I feel like the next week or two are going to be extremely important for us. Everything is looking good. I’m positive. Like I’ve said before, and I have mentioned this several times, everything is about sponsorship, and everything is looking good. We have some good shots out there, just this year was pretty eventful, and the way that companies move around, and ARRIS was bought by another company, so there’s a lot of things moving left and right, but everything is looking pretty good.”"

Suarez failed to qualify for the playoffs in his first season driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, just as he did in his two seasons at Joe Gibbs Racing, although he was the highest finishing driver in the regular season standings below the playoff cut line this year.
