Former Formula 1 champion Kimi Raikkonen joined fellow champion Fernando Alonso in calling out Lewis Hamilton’s go-green hypocrisy.

After two-time Formula 1 champion Fernando Alonso called out five-time champion Lewis Hamilton for telling his fans what to eat, 2007 champion Kimi Raikkonen did the same.

In an emotional post on his Instagram story days after the Japanese Grand Prix just under two weeks ago, Hamilton slammed people for “not caring” about the world when he lives a life that is far more detrimental to the environment than any of his fans.

Raikkonen, unlike Alonso, was not afraid to take the 34-year-old Briton’s side in that he believes climate change is an issue for everybody.

But like Alonso, the 40-year-old Finn also wasn’t afraid to call out Hamilton’s hypocrisy.

Here is what Raikkonen had to say about the matter, according to ESPN.

"“Obviously I think it involves everybody who lives on this planet. In the end, we all try to do what we can, but honestly we are probably not in the best place to start making big stories out of it, because in the end we’re burning fuel for what? To be first? Second?"

Hamilton is sponsored by oil and gas company Petronas and drives cars for a living, burning tons of fuel in the process just to win races.

He also owns an expensive car collection, and there is no one who can dispute the fact that he spends far more time jetting around the globe on planes than any of the millions of followers he is preaching to, not even him.

He is, after all, a Formula 1 driver. On this year’s schedule, there are 21 races in 21 countries on five continents.

Yes, he did adopt a vegan diet in 2017 and opened a vegan burger restaurant in London last month. So it’s not like he’s sitting around doing nothing while making demands of others.

But Alonso and Raikkonen see it the same way; how can somebody who lives the lifestyle that he lives say that people don’t care about the world when his carbon footprint is several times the size of the average person, and then tell them to change the way they do things?

Lewis Hamilton’s lifestyle as a Formula 1 driver as it relates to his demands of everybody else isn’t exactly a case of “do as I say not as I do” because he is at least making an effort to improve himself, but there is still clear hypocrisy in what he is saying and what he is — or really isn’t — doing. Now other drivers are beginning to call him out on it.
