While other sports leagues postponed and canceled several major events, IndyCar looked prepared to go on with getting their 2020 season underway amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The season was scheduled to get underway this past Sunday, March 15 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. The series later announced that the season opener would be held in front of no fans, with the health and safety of everybody in mind.

But that ultimately led to the cancellation of the event.

The cancellation of this race around the 14-turn, 1.8-mile (2.897-kilometer) temporary street circuit on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida led to the cancellations of additional races down the road as well.
