Romain Grosjean provided fans with an update on his recovery following his nasty shunt in last month’s Bahrain Grand Prix Formula 1 race.

On the opening lap of the antepenultimate race of the 2020 Formula 1 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix at Bahrain International Circuit, the rear of Romain Grosjean’s Haas made contact with the front of Daniil Kvyat’s AlphaTauri.

Grosjean’s car was sent careening into the inside barrier off of turn three of the 15-turn, 3.363-mile (5.412-kilometer) road course in Sakhir, Bahrain. The VF-20 managed to slice through a portion of the barrier before splitting into two pieces, with one containing the cockpit and the other containing the entire rear of the car.

The front portion of the car was stuck, however, as it did not come all the way through to the other side of the barrier. Amid a blazing inferno, Grosjean was miraculously able to emerge before he was helped to safety.

Fortunately for him, he was alive. Unfortunately for him, his season was over, and likely his Formula 1 career along with it.

Grosjean, who had already been given the news that he would not be returning to Haas for what would have been a sixth season with the sport’s lone American outfit in 2021, did not suffer any major injuries as a result of what was easily the most horrific impact that Formula 1 had seen in years.

But he did suffer burns to the backs of his hands, and because of those burns, he was ruled out for the following weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix at the outer layout of the same venue.

He was later ruled out for the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit. He was replaced by Haas reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi for both races as he continued his recovery, with bandages covering both of his hands.

But one month on from the accident, the 34-year-old Frenchman has nearly recovered.

He shared the following photo on Twitter one day after the four-week mark.

He added another message on the one-month anniversary of the crash yesterday, noting how incredible it is that he is able to do what he has been doing since the impact.
