IndyCar’s Bump Day qualifying session is in the books, eliminating two drivers from competing in the 105th running of the Indy 500.

The first of today’s two IndyCar qualifying sessions to finish setting the starting lineup for the 105th running of the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is in the books.

While three drivers became the final three to lock themselves into this year’s running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing”, two found themselves on the outside looking in and will not get to compete.

It was Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Sage Karam who led this session with a four-lap average speed of 229.156 miles per hour around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) oval in Speedway, Indiana behind the wheel of his #24 Chevrolet to qualify in 31st place.

Karam qualified ahead of Team Penske’s Will Power in 32nd place and in Paretta Autosport’s Simona de Silvestro in 33rd. But A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Charlie Kimball and Top Gun Racing rookie RC Enerson, who posted the fourth and fifth fastest speeds of this session, ultimately failed to qualify for the race, marking the first time bumping has occurred since three of the 36 drivers who attempted to qualify for the race in 2019 failed to do so.
