The starting lineup for the fourth and final oval race of the 2021 IndyCar season is set following Saturday’s qualifying session.

The fourth and final oval race on the 16-race 2021 IndyCar calendar is scheduled to take place this evening at World Wide Technology Raceway and Gateway, and the qualifying session for this race, the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, was held earlier this afternoon.

Team Penske’s Will Power took his 63rd career pole position for this 260-lap race around the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.198-kilometer) oval in Madison, Illinois, bringing him to within four of the great Mario Andretti’s all-time record of 67.

Set to start alongside Power on the outside of the front row in second place behind the wheel of his #26 Honda is Andretti Autosport’s Colton Herta.

Championship leader Alex Palou of Chip Ganassi Racing qualified in 12th place behind the wheel of his #10 Honda, but he is set to start all the way back in 21st in the 24-car field as a result of a nine-position grid penalty which was issued to the #10 team after an unapproved engine change following last Saturday afternoon’s race.
