Keep tabs on Saturday’s qualifying session for Sunday afternoon’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International, the Go Bowling at The Glen.

The NASCAR Cup Series is set for the fifth and final road course race of the 2022 regular season this Sunday afternoon at Watkins Glen International.

This race, the Go Bowling at The Glen, is the penultimate race on the 26-race regular season schedule, and it is scheduled to be a 90-lap race around the eight-turn, 2.454-mile (3.949-kilometer) Watkins Glen, New York road course.

Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson enters the weekend as the reigning winner.

Through the first 24 races of the season, there have been 15 different winners, meaning that with another new winner this weekend, we could end up with more winners (17) than playoff spots (16) after the regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway next Saturday night.

The qualifying session for the race is set to utilize the same format that has been used for the other four road course races contested so far this year. Drivers are split up into two groups based on the results of the most recent race at Richmond Raceway.

This is not a single-car session, as drivers are allowed to make their qualifying attempts at the same time as other drivers in their group. Additionally, they aren’t restricted to a single lap.

The fastest five drivers in each group advance to the second round, where they then battle for the pole position, using the same format.

Speeds in the second round determine the top 10 in the starting lineup, and the rest of the lineup is determined by speeds in the first round, irrespective of group.
