Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato topped the speed chart in the third and final practice session for the 12th race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season, the Honda Indy Toronto. This race is the eighth of 11 road or street course races fifth and final street course race this season.

Team Penske teammates Josef Newgarden and Will Power finished the practice session in second and third place on the speed chart in their #1 Chevrolet and #12 Chevrolet, respectively. Newgarden was involved in an accident late in the practice session with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports rookie Robert Wickens. Wickens slid into the turn eight tire barrier in his #6 Honda and Newgarden reacted and spun into the barrier right beside him. Wickens finished the session in seventh place.
The highest finishing non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of the practice session was Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot. Pigot finished the session in fifth place on the speed chart in his #21 Chevrolet.
While Chevrolet drivers took three of the top five positions in the speed chart in what was by far their best practice session for the race, as Honda drivers took at least the top five positions in both of the first two practice sessions, Honda drivers took nine of the top 12 positions, as they took each of the seven positions from sixth through 12th place.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who topped the speed chart in both of the first two practice sessions in his #9 Honda, led the group of seven Honda drivers from sixth through 12th place by finishing the session in sixth.
Just like in the second practice session, all but one of the 12 Honda drivers finished this practice session in the top 15 on the speed chart, and the one Honda driver who did not do so was Dale Coyne Racing’s Zachary Claman DeMelo. Claman DeMelo finished the session in 21st place in his #19 Honda.
Of the eight positions from 16th through 23rd (last), 21st was the only position occupied by a Honda driver, as Chevrolet drivers took the other seven.
