IndyCar: Laguna Seca to host test next Friday
WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca is scheduled to host a one-day test session for IndyCar teams next Friday, and nearly all of the full-time teams are expected to participate.
A total of 23 IndyCar entries are expected to head to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca next week for a single-day test on Friday, February 8.
The test session at the famed 11-turn, 2.238-mile (3.602-kilometer) natural terrain road course near Monterrey, California comes days before the series official spring training test session, which is scheduled to be held at Circuit of the Americas near Austin, Texas on Tuesday, February 12 and Wednesday, February 13.
All full-time teams are expected to participate in next week’s test, with the notable exception of Harding Steinbrenner Racing. Colton Herta and Patricio O’Ward are set to be the two full-time drivers for the Honda-powered team this season. Juncos Racing and Meyer Shank Racing are also expected to participate in it.

This one-day test is set to be open to the public, with gates scheduled to open at 7:00 a.m. PT and testing scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. PT. Fans can purchase tickets online and at the gate for $20. Fans who have previously purchased tickets to September’s Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey will be able to purchase tickets for $10, and season ticket holders will receive complementary admission.
Next Friday’s test will be the first of two confirmed tests at the California road course. The second test is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 19, just prior to the weekend of the 2019 season finale, the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 22. This race is set to be the first IndyCar race at the facility since 2004.
The 2019 IndyCar season is scheduled to kick off with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on Sunday, March 10 at 1:00 p.m. ET, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network. To see the full 2019 IndyCar schedule, click here.
