The qualifying order for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 is set. Who will qualify when for the 2019 IndyCar season’s sixth race?

A total of 36 drivers are set to attempt to qualify for the sixth race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and 33 drivers will ultimately be successful in doing so.

The qualifying order for the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana was set by a random draw following the fourth practice session, the Fast Friday practice session, for this race.

Of the 36 drivers who are set to compete in this race, 32 drivers drew two qualifying positions for this race — one for their primary cars and one for their backup “T” cars. As a result, a total of 68 qualifying positions were drawn for this race.

The four drivers who drew qualifying positions for only their primary cars were Carlin teammates Charlie Kimball, rookie Patricio O’Ward, and Max Chilton, the drivers of the #23 Chevrolet, the #31 Chevrolet and the #59 Chevrolet, respectively, and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing rookie Jordan King, the driver of the #42 Honda.

Andretti Autosport’s Conor Daly, who recorded the fastest lap time of the week so far at 38.8427 seconds (231.704 miles per hour) in the Fast Friday practice session, drew the #1 qualifying position, and he did so for his #25 Honda, not his #25T Honda, so he is set to be the first driver out on the track to make a qualifying attempt tomorrow morning.
