2019 Indianapolis 500 polesitter Simon Pagenaud topped the speed chart in the seventh practice session for this year’s edition of the famed IndyCar race.

Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, who took the pole position for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, topped the speed chart in the seventh practice session for the crown jewel on the IndyCar schedule.

Pagenaud topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 39.3975 seconds (228.441 miles per hour) around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana in his #22 Chevrolet.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden finished in second place on the speed chart in this practice session in his #2 Chevrolet to give Team Penske and Chevrolet a top two sweep.

Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe was the highest finishing Honda driver in this practice session. He finished in third place in his #5 Honda.

Honda drivers Scott Dixon of Chip Ganassi Racing and Alexander Rossi of Andretti Autosport rounded out the top five on the speed chart in this practice session by finishing in fourth and fifth place in their #9 Honda and #27 Honda, respectively.

Carlin’s Charlie Kimball, Team Penske teammates Helio Castroneves and Will Power, Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist and Dale Coyne Racing with Byrd-Hollinger-Belardi’s James Davison rounded out the top 10 on the speed chart in this practice session by finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #23 Chevrolet, #3 Chevrolet, #12 Chevrolet, #10 Honda and #33 Honda, respectively.

While only the 33 drivers who qualified for this race participated in this practice session, 34 positions were occupied on the speed chart. This is the case because of the fact that A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ Tony Kanaan completed laps driving both his #14 Chevrolet and the #4 Chevrolet of teammate Matheus Leist.
